Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I am a luthier and amateur classical guitar player. I learnt to build and repair guitars by attending the Musical Instrument (guitar) building course at Merton College in London during the late ninties.
I operate out of my home based studio and workshop from where I make classical guitars to order and provide a full repair and restoration service for classical guitars.
By Appointment Only.
My hand built guitars are based on traditional designs following the work of Torres and Hauser. I build using traditional Spanish methods and use only the best grade tone woods - dried and aged for at least 5 years. I offer 2 standard models:
Grand Concert: is a professional grade instrument of Indian rosewood and German spruce with handmade rosette, purfling and binding. I aim for a clear well balanced tone with bell like trebles and seek to gain good projection and brightness without compromising on tone. The guitar is finished with French polish (shellac).
Concert: A guitar for the advanced student seeking a concert grade instrument at a budget price. In construction this guitar is exactly the same as the Grand Concert except that the more time consuming elements have been limited - so pre-made rosette and no decorative elements (purling/bindings) but still hand finished with French polish.
The current waiting time for my hand built instruments is about 5 months.
I hold a small stock of new and pre-owned guitars for sale - as displayed on the website.
Please note that I do not sell accessories e.g. capos or song books but I do hold a limited stock of classical and acoustic steel strings.
I also provide a string change service costing £20 for changing a full set of strings (including cost of strings) or £15 if you provide the strings you want.
I can accommodate most times to visit during the week but, as I am home based, by prior appointment only - see contact details below.
I also provide guitar tuition for beginners - please enquire.
Part exchange considered - I'm particularly interested in guitars by Philip Woodfield and Pablo Requena.
